EMPLOYMENT SUMMARY

Over 30 years experience managing medium to large size data processing and information technology organizations.  Been responsible for the implementation of sophisticated application systems and for the design, implementation, and operation of telecommunications networks. Eight years as cabinet level Vice President at a medium size university.  Expertise in the areas of strategic planning for information technology, managing technological change throughout an organization, and project management. Strong leadership,  interpersonal, and consultation skills.

EXPERIENCE

Organizational, management, and technology consultation to private & public sector organizations.  Specialization in higher education environments, dealing with the management of technological changes and the management of the transition process.  Recent specific experience includes serving as: (1) management and technology consultant  for South Orange Community College District; (2) project manager for a major software procurement process at Los Angeles Community College District; (3) project manager for Pima Community College for the implementation of new Student, Financial Aid, and HR/Payroll systems;(4) start-up manager for Oracle Corporation  on a major higher-education project (for Maricopa Community College District);  and (5) project manager for Maricopa Community College District for the implementation of a new Student Information System at the District’s 10 community colleges.   

Vice President  --  Information Resources Management                             1986-1994
Wright State University       Dayton, Ohio

Had complete responsibility for central computing resources -- both academic and administrative. Responsibilities also included: telecommunication services including voice, video, and data;  campus television;  media services;  planning; budget; institutional research; mail services; and printing services.  Cited by Board of Trustees for leadership in planning and managing information resources, as well as managing multi-constituency university change projects.

 Had complete responsibility for central computing resources, media services, & telecommunications.  Accomplishments included implementation of instructional television system; significant improvement of all campus computing resources; installation of a new telephone system and broadband backbone network.

EG&G Idaho, Inc.            Idaho Falls, Idaho

EG&G Idaho, Inc. Is the principal contractor to the Department of Energy at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory. Had complete responsibility for all of the company’s business data processing facilities & services.  Was instrumental in company’s migration from batch processing to data-base, on-line transaction environment, with emphasis on “user-friendly” systems & improved productivity

University of Alaska    Fairbanks, Alaska

Employed by SCT as Executive Director for the University of Alaska’s Computer Network serving the statewide multi-campus institution. Responsibility for all administrative & academic computing facilities and services.  Accomplishments included management of the facilities and installation of an integrated business system and communication network.

Employed by SCT as Site Manager for Cooperative Computer Center, serving three state universities. Responsibility for administrative & academic computing facilities & services.
 

Director  --  Data Processing Center                                                                    1972-1976
University of Petroleum & Minerals    Dhahran, Saudi Arabia

Had complete responsibility for all of the university’s administrative & academic computer facilities, personnel & services.  Responsibilities also included operating a service bureau for organizations throughout the Kingdom in both the public & private sectors.  Introduced & established the Kingdom’s first data processing educational programs, inside & outside the formal university structure.
 

Chairman &Assoc. Professor  --  Chemical Engineering Department
University of Petroleum & Minerals    Dhahran, Saudi Arabia                                        1970-1972

Responsibilities included managing a full department, developing Chemical Engineering laboratories and teaching classes.
 

Research Engineer  --  Management Information & Systems                   1967-1970

Responsible for developing & maintaining heat transfer simulation models and information retrieval systems and providing consulting services to field engineers.
